Conference on improving planning methodologies, Rome 4/5 December 2014
Held as part of the Italian Presidency programme, this conference allowed a review of progress in the Joint Action on health workforce planning since it was launched in the Spring of 2013.
EHFF has played a role as a collaborating partner in the JA but also in providing expert advice to CfWI (the Centre for Workforce Intelligence) the leader of WP6 (forecasting future health workforce needs).
A link to the programme is provided here. The individual presentations can be downloaded from the site. Of particular interest to EHFF was the introductory address from Dr Rys, representing the Commission, on the Thursday morning, the afternoon presentation of Prof Walter Sermeus from Leuven ‘linking HWF and quality of care’ and the two sessions later that day from Prof Bob Elliott of Aberdeen University on the FP7 MUNROS project (the impact on practice outcomes and costs of new roles for health professionals) and from Matt Edwards and John Fellows of CfWI on ‘insights on future skills and competences’. The following day there were contributions from Paolo Michelutti (AGENAS), introducing the Handbook of Planning Methodologies and from Cris Scotter of the UK Dept. of Health on ‘future thinking on health workforce planning’.
