Values in public service: a seminar. A group of a dozen or so individuals met together in December 2015 at the Institute of Directors in Central London. They came from a variety of backgrounds including Ethics, the Law, the Church, and Management Consultancy, but in the main people who had worked in Health and Social Care in the UK. Most of the group had worked in senior positions in different organisations. The debate was supported by the Health and Social Care Advisory Service (HASCAS) and convened by EHFF (the European Health Futures Forum).
The group were asked two questions: “At a time when pressures of all kinds threaten our integrity as professionals, how do you personally retain your integrity and professionalism? Is there a line you wouldn’t cross?” and “Do you have views on how to help others deal with these pressures in difficult working environments?” A report, summarising the debate is shortly to be published.
