Growing a New Pattern for Health and Care
EHFF attendance at the International Futures Forum Health and Care Gathering, Fintry Trust England June 14th 2023
EHFF has participated over the last couple of years in a monthly community of practice meeting focused on the UK NHS, led by Margaret Hannah, Director of Health Programmes at the International Futures Forum
A couple of weeks ago a dozen interested parties met with Margaret, Graham Leicester (Director of IFF) and Bill Sharpe* (esteemed futurist and exponent of the three horizons method) to spend a day brainstorming future directions for healthcare in the UK.
In the delightful settling of the Fintry Trust, a retreat dating from 1950s in the depth of the Surrey hills, we spent a day working around the stated mission of this IFF group which is summarised as:
“We are seeking to transform health and care systems such that we achieve health and provide care for people in ways which meet contemporary patterns of disease, enable them to lead healthy and fulfilling lives and when the time comes, to have a good death”
Although not identical, you will notice that there is strong overlap between this stated aim and the EHFF mission.
Conversations before close were under the headings of:
– Advocacy: Where does IFF go?
– A search for the new paradigm: what is it?
– Being and knowing, the spirtual dimension.
– Where IFF might find powerful alliances in the landscape that we know.
The journey continues.
