For the third year running EHFF team members attended and presented at this meeting of systems theory experts, on this occasion, Mike Bewick, Sean Conlan and David Somekh. The Viable Systems Model pioneered by Stafford Beer fifty years ago is a particular focus for this community and we have used the model as a guideline for the development of our organisation. Metaphorum is also a partner organisation with EHFF and we plan to initiate a joint working project, which was discussed as part of a very busy conference proceedings. The conference programme is here
At the meeting we agreed to set up a work group comprising Sean, Mike and David together with Ian Kendrick of U3E, Gary Alexander of PlaNET and Jon Walker of Metaphorum and Hull Business School. We aim to co-produce a project to study the barriers and facilitators to increasing collaboration between self-organising community entities. More on the thinking behind this concept in another news item when we have the project ‘on the road’.
Many of the interesting presentations from the conference will shortly be available on an open-source basis on the Metaphorum website.
