About the HealthCare Futurists
The HealthCare Futurists GmbH was found in April 2013 in Düsseldorf, Germany. We look back at a steady revenue growth and a significant number of satisfied and returning customers from different industry strata that are all interested in healthcare, medicine and life-sciences. Our motto is: We. Safe. Patients. This means, it is all about a group effort. The modern world is a place where people share ideas and work together: we face a structural change of how we generate ideas and put them to reality as well as how we work together. We are living in an age where ideation, commitment, sense seeking and working all flow together and make for the work life experience.
Since we are primarily active in medically related fields and thus dealing with people’s lives, Safety is pivotal. This applies to products we build, services we offer and data we generate or store. And foremost, it is all about the patient and the perspective the vulnerable person takes when she or he must rely on medical help in a modern world.
The HealthCare Futurists GmbH is a holding that operates with a number of companies who are a spin out of initial product developments that turned into successful business models. Philon Med GmbH is a 100% subsidy of the HealthCare Futurists GmbH and is dealing with the production of medical devices. Currently Philon Med is home to Telemedicon, a telemedical center that is currently being set up in Bavaria and other federal states in Germany.
There is also the innovate.healthcare GmbH i. Gr. (http://innovate.healthcare) that is very successfully running healthcare hackathons and innovation.labs with companies from the pharmaceutical field and the medtech arena. Those hackathons to us are a vast resource to understand innovation dynamics and over the years we have successfully created a respected brand through delivering outstanding quality with our healthcare hackathons and innovation.labs. One of our key assets is the fact that we have always involved patients, patient groups and organizations in our hackathons. We have trained the self-help groups in Hassia, Germany on behalf of the regional AOK (major German payer) in the field of digital transformation and are also in good standing with major patient representative institutions such as the Paritätische. This allows us to get an educated patient’s opinion at any stage of the process which in turn makes sure our primary goal of becoming a benchmark for patient and customer centricity does not get lost but rather gets spot on.
It is our core mission to be able to deliver the best customer centric care, be it to the patient or be it to an industry or academic customer: the right people have to come together. What is right for one setting might not be right for the other. So adaptive management of resources is a key success factor for customer results and thus customer loyalty. We have learnt this lesson well and incorporated this in our core company DNA. This is the reason the HealthCare Futurists are set up as a network of primarily independent individuals who deliver outstanding service in their own right and field. Our partners are well-selected, and handpicked and their profile fits to the point within the framework of requirements that come with a gig, job or project.
We believe that this is the future of modern work where skilled people come together bound by passion and ideas and mutual goals and values to help others grow beyond their own possibilities. In this we see our roles as facilitators, as midwives to ideas and opportunities for individuals and companies alike.
We currently have a subsidiary in Belfast, UK but we have a huge network of innovators and healthcare futurists all over Europe, who come from different verticals such as business and economics, architecture, military service, public health, carpentry and design, automotive, philosophy just to name a few. They are all united by curiosity and a deeply rooted appreciation for modern healthcare and the responsibility it brings to shape the process of digital transformation. To us this has been a great match in the past and it shall also continue for you to be just that. Along those lines goes the sincere invitation for all friends and partners of the EHFF network to join us in our endeavors and projects. You might want to refer to our list of partners on our website (http://www.healthcarefuturists.com) to get a clearer picture of our reach and access.
Core Ideas and Concepts of the HealthCare Futurists
We believe all innovation starts with astonishment and a need. “Why are things the way they are and why has not someone fixed them yet?” This marveling leads to new thoughts and new thoughts lead to new ways of thinking and eventually doing. This is where our approach sets us apart from others. We will not lean back once we have intellectually cracked the nut. This is where the fun begins. Our mission for our customers is to make digital transformation tangible. For this we have started our HealthCare MakerMobil more than two years ago. We have made considerable investments in cutting edge technology which will be used for the HealthCare MakerMobil on its way throughout Europe.
We have done this without an investor in order to maintain our independency. We want to make digital transformation tangible because we believe technology has always in history, initiated processes of change, transparency and democratization.
We have a long pedigree of organizing innovate.healthcare hackathons and innovation.labs. Hackathons by definition are accessible by anyone whereas innovation.labs are secured for companies. The processes behind both of them are very similar and go in accordance with our values.
We have run Europe’s largest privately organized healthcare hackathon just in January 2018 in Cologne (http://cologne.innovate.healthcare) with more than 200 participants from 20 different countries and veritable sponsors at our side. Amongst our customers to run healthcare hackathons for them is the EU Commission as well as the Bavarian Ministry of Finance and the Robert-Bosch-Foundation. We have more than 1000 alumni in our hackathons so far and the community is constantly growing. We have come to understand that it is not just about the hackathon as a venue but also about the follow up with the teams. This is the reason we have a good conversion rate from ideas to companies in our venues.
Learning through examples – our innovation legacy, our own products, our own companies.
The HealthCare Futurists take pride in the fact that we have successfully launched several products and companies already, that we have co-developed a number of technologies and successfully invested into startups all of which in the medical field and of course that we also have failed big time, but learned from our mistakes, which is also a valuable asset to share.
We believe, if you want to teach how to innovate to others, you better have some skin in the game. Otherwise things are doomed to remain theoretically and credibility with people will be low.
