Final conference of PROSTEP (promoting self-management in chronic diseases) project: Brussels October 23-24.
EHFF is one of the five partners steering this project, due to finish by January 2018. The final conference represents Work Package 7 of the tender from DG Sante (first reported here January 2016) and brought roughly one hundred people to two half days of presentations, discussions and workshops. The agenda for the conference can be found here. As the content of the project is published elsewhere and will be promoted by factsheets such as this we will only comment on presentations of note from outsiders to the project. Firstly, an introduction from a young patient managing their chronic disease here, next an invited speaker on Cost-effectiveness here, then our colleague Sasha Karekusevic on innovation here, a fascinating presentation from Portugal on bottom-up innovation, by the organisation called ‘patient innovations’. Via their dedicated website you can find lots of interesting links and videos on their activities and finally our own Lars Munter, on a possible way forward from the end of the project here. A detailed report on the conference will be part of the published report on the whole project, likely to be accessible on the European Commission website in Spring
