Expert Panel to complete Delphi process on criteria to assess organisational interventions focused on dealing with chronic patients with multiple conditions (multimorbidity)
A panel of 14 experts including a representative of EHFF was convened at the CSISC office, Brussels by the Institute for Health Sciences in Aragon as lead of the Chronic Disease Joint Action WP6. The group included old friends of EHFF such as Prof Jean Bousquet from Montpellier, Cecilia Vera from Madrid, Estaban de Manuel from the Basque country, Brian O’Connor from ECHAlliance and Cristina Bescos from Phillips. Over two days, the task for the group was to examine 16 variables derived from a large on-line Delphi process and agree weighting for the sub-variables so that they could be used as a tool to rate the value of good practice interventions in the field of multi-morbidity. The output was a list of weighted criteria including context and needs analysis, care intervention design, change management, interaction with relevant societal structures and sustainability and scalability; a total of eight categories, comprising 50 items in total.
The group found it to be demanding work, but enjoyed the interaction and felt that it was a worthwhile outcome, which will become part of the WP6 output for the Joint Action. The final report, to be used as part of the WP4 knowledge platform is here.
